How to reverse normals in Maya on a large scale after importing?

Issue:
How does one reverse normals in Maya on a larger scale than manual selection?
Many objects have too many faces to individually select and are misaligned after the file is imported into Maya.
Solution:
While there is no method for automatic or large scale normal reversals in Maya at the moment, there are many ways to improve import methods to reduce the risk of finding reversed faces in the file:
- Check that the filetype is optimal for Maya. .FBX and .OBJ files are preferred and are universal files.
- Consider breaking the model into more digestible pieces when dealing with especially large files, or when dealing with models that have both complex and simplistic elements.
- Import as much of the model as possible; consider which elements are troublesome and why.
- Ensure that the scales for each imported object are fairly similar. Normals are less likely to reverse when a file is of uniform size.
- Ensure that the desired model itself is of high quality and ready to be imported. If normals are flipped in the program of origin, they will invariably be flipped in Maya.
- Ensure that the model is polygonal in nature, and is separated from different 3D structure types. If these features must exist, import them separately.
